熊本県に生まれ、東京で育つ。フェリス女学院大学卒業後、ニューヨークのICP（International Center of Photography）で写真を学ぶ。家族、記憶、日常の情景をテーマに作品を制作。前作『ホームドラマ』は国内外で発表され、2005年に新風舎から写真集として刊行された。
主な受賞歴に、写真新世紀優秀賞・ホンマタカシ選（1998）、新風舎・平間至写真賞大賞（2004）、JGSアーティストアワード（2015）、Tory Burch × ICPフェローシップ（2023）、第4回ふげん社写真賞グランプリ（2024）などがある。
主な収蔵先に、Joy of Giving Something（JGS）財団（ニューヨーク、米国）、ミルウォーキー美術館（ミルウォーキー、米国）、清里フォトアートミュージアム（山梨、日本）などがある。現在、カリフォルニア州を拠点に制作を続けている。

Born in Kumamoto Prefecture and raised in Tokyo, Eri Morita studied photography at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York after graduating from Ferris University. Her work explores themes of family, memory, and Day-to-day moments. Her previous series “Home Drama” was exhibited both domestically and internationally, and was published as a photobook by Shinpusha in 2005.
Her major awards include The Sanctuary Excellence Award at the New Cosmos of Photography (selected by Takashi Homma, 1998), the Grand Prize at the Shinpusha-Hirama Itaru Photography Award (2004), the JGS Artist Award (2015), the Tory Burch × ICP Fellowship (2023), and the Grand Prize at the 4th Fugensha Photography Award (2024).
Her work is held in the collections of institutions such as the Joy of Giving Something (JGS) Foundation(New York, USA), the Milwaukee Museum of Art(Wisconsin, USA), and the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts (Yamanashi, Japan). She is currently based in California, where she continues her practice.
