1957年　葛飾区生まれ　江東区在住

1977年　東京クラフトデザイン研究所陶磁器科卒

1977年〜79年　岐阜県瑞浪市　茨城県高萩市にて製陶業に従事

1980年 人形制作を開始。96年までジャズ/ブルースをテーマの人形を発表する。

1991年 廃れた写真の古典技法、オイルプリントの制作開始。

1996年　作家・文士シリーズの制作開始。

2007年-2009年　都営地下鉄のフリーペーパー中央公論Ａdagio（東京都交通局）の表紙を担当。

個展は、「石塚公昭幻想写真展-生き続ける作家たち-」（リコーイメージングスクエア銀座、2019）や『ピクトリアリズムIII』 （銀座・青木画廊、2018年）、『深川の人形作家 石塚公昭の世界』　（深川江戸資料館、2016）など多数開催している。

現在、『タウン誌深川』でエッセイ「明日できること今日はせず」を連載中。

I used to often wonder, where would the images in my head go. My creative activity is to pull out such images and confirm that they were there by visualizing them. Ideally, I would like to do “psychography” by directing a lens toward my forehead. However, since I don’t have such an ability, I create human models and sometimes background as well, and shoot them.
Before Western paintings came into Japan, Japanese did not draw shades in the paintings. There are different stories for the reason, but comfortlessness by drawing shades could be one of them. Since 2017, I have been trying to shoot without showing any shade of objects. You will be able to see them in Hokusai Katsushika on the top page and Encho Sanyutei, the creator of Japanese ghost story “Botan Doro”. For “Tiger and Moon” in Another Works, I shot cat and changed it to tiger. Japanese at that time had never seen a tiger and used their imagination to draw. I wanted to create such an atmosphere in the picture.
Even though I used data shot by camera, all the work turned out to be somewhat like Japanese-style paintings. I have printed them on to Japanese traditional handmade papers.

1980 Started making dolls, and continued to make jazz/blues-themed dolls until 1996.
In 1991, I started making oil prints, a classic technique of photography that has become obsolete.
1996: Started making the Artist/Writer series.
